Definition
Depending on the load, a distinction is made between fastness to washing, rubbing, light, water or sweat. A material can be stable in one respect and delicate in another.
In simple words
Dark denim can rub when rubbed, a bold shirt can bleed when washed, and a summer fabric can fade in the sun. Color fastness is therefore not a single all-or-nothing characteristic. Care, color depth, fiber and dyeing process all work together.
What to pay attention to
- First wash strong colors separately and follow the care instructions.
- For critical parts, gently rub an inconspicuous area with a light, damp cloth.
- Protect sensitive colors from long periods of direct sunlight.
Common misconceptions
An intense color does not automatically mean fake, and a high price does not guarantee complete color fastness.
