What is made-to-measure/custom-made?

Custom-made refers to clothing that is ordered for a specific person and adapted to individual measurements or wishes.

Definition

The generic term includes different procedures. Made-to-measure usually changes an existing basic pattern; Bespoke or real individual tailoring usually works with a specially created cut and several fittings.

In simple words

Custom-made can also mean that only color, length or details are configured. It is therefore worth clarifying the scope of services in detail. Individual measurements improve the chance of a good fit, but do not replace competent tailoring or high-quality workmanship.

What to pay attention to

  • Ask whether a basic pattern is adjusted or an individual pattern is created.
  • Clear number of fittings, possible corrections and later reserves for changes.
  • Discuss everyday life, posture, movement needs and preferred silhouette - not just numbers.

Common misconceptions

Custom-made, made-to-measure and bespoke are not automatically the same thing. The degree of individualization differs significantly.

ESKYNA note

Made-to-measure starts with measurements, but only becomes truly personal through cutting, trying on and using.
