What is Skort?

A skort combines the look of a skirt with the freedom of movement of shorts.

Glossary illustration for skort

Definition

There are integrated shorts under a skirt-like front or layer of fabric that is visible all around. Skorts are used for sports, leisure, travel and increasingly in well-groomed looks.

In simple words

The cut offers more coverage when moving, sitting or in the wind than a classic mini skirt. From the front it can look like a wrap skirt, from the back like shorts or similar to a skirt. Fabric, length and waistband determine whether the effect is sporty or elegant.

What to pay attention to

  • Check whether the inner shorts are long enough and do not ride up.
  • Make sure the front overlap remains closed when sitting.
  • Test pockets and waistband as extra layers can add bulk quickly.

Common misconceptions

A skort is not a skirt under which cycling shorts are worn separately. The shorts are part of the construction.

ESKYNA mnemonic

The skort looks like a skirt and thinks like a pair of shorts - form and function meet in one piece.
